Wrought Iron Stair Baluster Installation is Easy!!!
Now Get Those Wooden Balusters Outta There!
The next step in installing beautiful wrought iron stair balusters is to remove the old wooden balusters. Some existing installations may not be up to code, so some extra drilling may be needed to space the new wrought iron stair balusters properly.
- Cut the wooden stair balusters at their their thinnest point with a saws all.
- Twist and remove the wooden stair balusters from the top and base.
- Clean out any remaining glue and/or nails left by the stair balusters.
- Lay out the wourght iron stair baluster pattern you are retrofitting to assure proper fit and adherance to code.
- If cap has hole already you should screw a 2" drywall screw until about 3/8" is left to support baluster, otherwise drill a 9/16" diameter hole about 5/16" deep.
